Out of the Mouth of Babes

Jon had to work late last night, therefore, our entire night time schedule was thrown off. The kids were going to bed a little later, so we decided to skip scriptures and go straight to the rock and cuddle. Jon was just sitting down in the chair when Livie came walking in holding her book of Mormon and said:
"I need some Jesus."

As shameful as it was to be rebuked by a two year old, I was so impressed with her love for Jesus and for the scriptures. Not only did I learn a very important lesson from her, but I hope she continues to love the gospel and of course, her Jesus.

Back to School, and more....

Another start of another school year. You would think that after having Dylan in school for a year and a half, I would be used to this. But every time he has a big break, it breaks my heart to send him back to school. He went to a new school with a new teacher. She is so nice, and Dylan had a great first day. Hopefully the honeymoon period lasts for awhile. He gets to ride the bus again, which he is ecstatic about. I would love to drive him to and from, but he is adamant that he rides. It is actually a very cute little bus, and the driver is wonderful. Dyl sat by a friend for the first time. Livie missed him so much. She asked for him all day, and kept telling me that she wanted Dylan back. Luckily, we both survived.(After taking a dozen pictures, this is the best one I could get!)

This last weekend, Jon and I did a little shopping at the outlets, and let the kids ride the carousel. Dylan thought he was in a race, like Mary Poppins. Live was in awe and kept saying how beautiful it was. She would pet her horse and say it was sooooo cute. She also had her first public potty accident. Surprisingly enough, it was less embarrassing to notify a sales assistant, than it is to take a screaming child from the store. I always thought bodily functions would trump tantrums.

My Comedians

Dylan has been on track break for the last week. It is sometimes hard for him to be off his schedule, but it also lets me spend more time with him, and enjoy his humor. Here are a few things he has said this week:

That giraffe has a loooooooong neck.

Don't talk to me like I'm an idiot.

I want to watch Herbie for Lovey

Daddy's on my team and Livie and mommy are a team.

Santa Clause comes and takes away all of the presents.

Blue Man loves his hat, it is his favorite present. (Blue Man is his imaginary friend that lives on the top of his index finger.)

I know Mom, I am hilarious.

Hi, I'm a doctor and I am going to hurt you.

Livie, do you like beef tacos?

(This conversation was my favorite:)
Dylan: Daddy, I want a cookie.
Jon: Well I want a million dollars. If you can get me a million dollars, I will give you a cookie.
Dylan: Mom, can I have a million dollars?

Later on Livie told Dylan she wanted one of his crackers, and he told her he needed a million dollars.

Livie has also started saying some pretty funny things. Here a few of hers:

Look Mommy, I'm so beautiful.

I love drinking.

Mommy, give me some monies so I can go.

One day, Jon and I were quizzing her on body parts. Jon pointed to his eye and asked, Whats this? She replied eye. When I pointed to my eye and asked what it was, she replied, make-up.

Livie has also started to go to the potty. She has always been startled by loud noises, but when she toots in the potty she thinks it is hilarious. She will name them. Oh, that one was an elephant. That was a tiger! It is pretty gross, but at least she is not scared!

T is for Trixie

I think Jon is good at a lot of things. Not only does he cut his own hair, but he cuts Dylans, and the dogs. He usually does such a good job. In fact, he cut the dogs hair tonight. Imagine my surprise when I walk in the bathroom to see him shaving a T in Trixie's back, (with my razor.) At my speechlessness, he told me that this would help him tell the dogs apart. I always thought it was easy to tell them apart, since Zoey weighs about twenty pounds more than Trixie.

Dylan in Blue

This is our newest technique for calming Dylan's sensory problems. It is called a Body Sock. It is made of a Lycra material and clings to his body. He can see through it, and he loves it. He asks to wear it. I think the best thing about it is the entertainment value it provides for Jon and I. He looks so funny in it. Livie thinks he is an easy target, so she will sneak up on him and try to tickle or push him.

Dylan's Last Day

Thank you to all of his teachers and aides that helped him improve so much during the year.

Priceless

Number of days Dylan has been kicked out of school because of aggression in the last MONTH: 5

Amount of money and time we have and are currently spending trying to get him to stop these behaviors: $$$ (You don't want to know.)

When Dylan hugs me and tells me he loves me: Priceless, and worth every second and cent.

SNUT

I bet most people haven't ever head of snut. Well, I hadn't either until a few days ago. It all started with a conversation in the car. Dylan, Livie and I were playing "Lets talk about..". We had just finished naming things that started with T, when the conversation turned to snut.
Dylan: Okay mommy, lets talk about things that are snut.

Me: Ummmm, what was that Dyl?

Dylan: Lets talk about things that are snut.

Me: (Stalling) Why don't you go first.

Dylan: Smarties are snut.

Me: Um, the dirt is snut?

Dylan: NO MOM, TRY AGAIN.

I was a little confused, but then he didn't talk about it again. Until today. I was coloring in some pictures with colored pencils and Dylan asked if he could have one. When I asked him what color, he asked for the snut one. When I let him pick, he chose the peach colored one. The mystery is solved. But apparently, only this pencil and smarties are snut. Other things that seem to match this color, do not quite reach his expectations.

Breaking Dawn/Batman

This was seriously the best weekend ever. On Friday, my friend Emily and I went to the Breaking Dawn release party. Although I kind of felt like a geek, it was awesome. I started reading the book that night and finished it on Saturday. It is the best book ever. Not only was it the best in the series, but it is in the top three of my all time favorites. I loved the way the series ended. She could not have written a better ending. On Saturday night, Jon and I were able to go on a date. We ate some dinner and saw the new Batman. It was so good. Heath Ledger was amazing. My family was teasing me for having a weekend full of vampires and super heroes, but I couldn't have planned a better time.
