Jesus and the Temple

Dylan and Livie and I were in my room getting some new towels out of my cedar chest, when we found these two ceramic figurines. I had made them when I was in Young Womens. Dylan got so excited and grabbed the temple and the Jesus and ran into his room. After I finished getting my towels and putting the rest of the stuff back, I went to see what Dyl was up to. He had lined them up next to each other and was putting his cars in front of it. When I asked him what he was doing, he told me that all these people went to the temple. When I asked him what Jesus was doing, he told me that Jesus goes in the temple. I was so stunned. They pick up so much when they are little. I also think they remember some things from before they were born. He asked me if the Jesus and the temple could stay in his room for the night. Of course I couldn't tell him no. They are still on his tramp. The whole thing was so precious.

Tag, I'm it

Here are a few things that you may not know about me. (Although if you were at game night, it can't be much!)

Jobs I have had:
1. Classic Shop- It was an older ladies boutique with tanning beds in the back. So odd, I know. I did get a lot of free tans, and the ladies I worked with were quite entertaining.
2. The Buckle-I didn't like this job at all. I hated pushing people to buy expensive clothes. Plus, the discount wasn't that great.
3. Convergys- Almost what Utahn hasn't worked there?
4. Liberty Square-I was an apartment manager there for about three years and I loved it. It was so much fun. Things got a little shady at the end when I was pregnant with Dylan, but we ended up moving to Las Vegas so it all worked out okay.
5. Mom-The best job in the world. Most days, I would not trade it for anything.

All the Places I have lived:
1. Tremonton, Utah
2. Garland, Utah
3. Provo Utah,
4. Orem, Utah
5. Las Vegas, NV

4 Favorite Movies:
1. Pride and Prejudice
2. Becoming Jane
3. Hairspray
4. 13 going on 30

4 Favorite Foods
1. Cheese (ummm)
2. Cereal
3. Italian
4. Steak

4 Weird things about me
1. I am missing two of my front teeth. I wasn't born with them so now I have a bridge.
2. I am the official oddball in my family. I have done everything different than my siblings. Like, where and when I got married, where I live. They all live so close to each other. I'm kind of jealous of that sometimes.
3. I would probably end up being like a cat lady if Jon would let me. I am always asking him to get more animals, to which he quickly shuts the idea off. I will probably end up old and alone with a whole bunch of cats.
4. I HATE public speaking. I can't sleep the night before even if I have to pray in church. My knees shake and I almost throw up. The last time I had to speak in sacrament meeting, after I was done, I left the chapel and started hyperventilating in the nursery.

4 TV Shows
1. Jon and Kate plus 8
2. The Office
3. Supernanny
4. Lost

4 Places I would love to go
1. Hawaii
2. Europe
3. South Africa
4. New York

People I am tagging, anyone that didn't get this from Janet Shumway, Mainly my Utah friends and Alee, Valerie, and Tawni

Yesterday, Jon, Dylan, Livie and I were all playing in Dylan's room. Livie's nose started to run, so Jon told Livie to go get him some tissue. A few seconds later she comes running in with a long trail of toilet paper. She didn't go to the bathroom that was closest to Dyl's room, she decided to go into my bedrooms bathroom where there was a brand new roll of toilet paper. She just picked up the edge and carried it all the way in. It was just so cute, and she was so proud of herself. She has just started telling us she loves us, without being prompted. Everytime I tell her I love her, she hugs me and says I luf you too. It is one of the best things in the world.

Why I love Las Vegas

This season in Las Vegas is my favorite. I love the weather. It is right around the 70's. The kids love being outside. I know some of my Utahn friends and family are going to think I am bragging a little, but you will be able to have your revenge when the summer months come. The kids and I were playing outside today after school and we were having so much fun. All of a sudden, Dyl just stopped playing and said, I'm done with this park. I'm going home. Farewell. After that, he just walked inside. I guess our backyard isn't as fun as I thought.

Dylan the Hobo

Everyday when I go to pick up Dylan, his face always suprises me. He manages to look like Pigpen from the Charlie Brown gang! I have no idea how the kid gets so dirty at school. His face is always black, and so are his hands. I swear there is a cloud of dust floating around him. I must say though, there is nothing cuter than a dirty little boy. Boys are meant to look scruffy. It makes them look so mischevious, and I love it!

Ode to Helpers

Today I am feeling so blessed for all of the helpers in my life. We have so many people that are there for us, it is just amazing. Dylan's Occupational therapist, Shannon, is such an incredible blessing in our life. She has taught us so many great things to help with Dylan's sensory issues. She is always there on weekends or at night, when Dyl is in meltdown mode. I am also so very grateful for my kids church leaders. They learn so much from them and my kids love going to church. I am so grateful for Dylan's school teachers. I can't imagine how hard it must be for them, but Dylan is doing better every single day. They are doing things with him, that I know I wouldn't be able to do. Living away from family can sometimes be hard, but I am so blessed with friends that are always there for me. I am also so very grateful for my husband. I know how hard he works during the day, but when he gets home, he is so helpful with the kids and dishes and everything else. I know this post may sound a little cheesey, but sometimes, I think others need to know how grateful you are for them.

The Connections Center

Through Dylan's school district, we go to this place called the Connections Center. It is such a fantastic place, and is helping us so much. They teach Jon and I different ways to do ABA therapy, and ways to help him communicate better with us. The teachers there are so wonderful. One of the reasons we were going there, was for them to help us with his tantrums. Unfortunately, Dylan has decided that he isn't going to show them his tantrums. He is such a perfect angel while we are there. :). I love the fact that his school district is so accomodating, and he is getting so much help. We are so lucky to live here. Here are a few pictures of how much fun, he and Livie have.

Kid Tag

8 Things you may not know about Olivia

1. I have the sweetest personality, and care so much about everyone. I am always so concerned if everyone is okay. I love to give hugs and kisses and my favorite place is on someone's lap.

2. I have inherited my mothers love for animals. I love everything that moves, including some stuff that creeps my mommy out. I love my two dogs and always help my mommy feed them and give them treats. My mommy and I are both working on daddy to get a bunny.

3. I adore my brother. I copy everything he says and does. I want to be just like him. I always ask to watch Cars, because thats what Dylan likes. When mommy and I go to the library, I always pick a book out for Dylan. I always try to hug Dylan, but sometimes he doesn't like that. I know he loves me too though.

4. I love playing with friends and family. It is so much fun to be with other people. I get so excited when my grandma's and grandpa's come to visit. I wish I could see them more. (Hint Hint).

5. I am a total daddy's girl. I ask for daddy all day long and when he gets home, I want nothing to do with my mommy. I love sitting by him and playing games with him. He loves me too, and when I smile and show my dimples, he melts for me.
6. I love to dress up. I love wearing hats, and jewelry and will put it on after mommy and daddy put me to bed. I love to wear high heels and fancy dresses. I love to carry purses around and fill them up with all of my favorite things. When I want my earrings on (clip ons), I ask mommy to pinch my ears.
7. I am such a good cleaner. I will pick things up before mommy even asks me too. I love to help unload the dishwasher and do the laundry. Mommy thinks she is very lucky to have me and the jobs go so much quicker when I lend a hand. I am getting very good at folding clothes and make the cutest little piles. I always help Dylan clean up his room too.

8. I am such a blessing to my mom and dad. I bring them so much happiness and they know how lucky they are to have a sweet girl like me. I make everyone happy that meets me. I love reading my kid scriptures, especially the parts about Jesus. I am so good at saying my prayers.

8 Things you may not know about Dylan

Dylan:
1. For those of you that don't know, I have a form of high functioning autism. It was pretty hard on my parents when they first found out, but now they can see how special I am. I see and feel the world a little different then most kids, but I am so smart, and have an exceptional memory.

2. I am a comedian. I say the funniest things and crack my mom and dad up all of the time. I love to qoute movies I have seen, and I have perfect comedic timing. I like to tease my sister, and sometimes mom and dad, but I know they secretly like it.

3. I am OBSESSED with WHEELS! I love anything that has wheels and spins, but cars are my speciality. I have hundreds of cars in my room, but I know all of them and could play with them all day long. I love trains, and other spinning things too, such as ceiling fans, windmills, and clocks. I can name different cars by looking at them, like ferrari's, hummers, mustangs, etc.

4. I love looking at different lights. Christmas time was so much fun for me because of all of the different lights everywhere. One of my favorite things to do is to go to the light store. Mommy and daddy have to find new ones to go to, so people don't recognize us.

5. I love sweet things. Cookies and cakes are my idea of heaven. I am constantly negotiating ways to get a cookie or fruit snacks. Mom thinks my passion is a great way to convince me to eat normal things. I love when we have birthday parties, or friends over because mommy always makes a dessert.

6. I can be a little mischevious. My teacher says that I can lead the pack in riot rousing. I like to stir up trouble sometimes, but I always know what to do or what to say to talk my way out of it. Nobody can stay mad for long because I am so cute.

7. I love water. I love playing in the bath, sprinklers or anything that can get me wet. I could spend all night in the bathtub. I love to go swimming, and I had so much fun at my grandma's and grandpa's using the slip and slide. I hate getting my hair washed, but mom and dad are getting pretty quick about getting it out.

8. I can be the kindest and sweetest boy. Sometimes all my inside frustrations go away, and I can show the real angel I am. I can be so sweet and helpful to my sister. I have started telling mommy and daddy I love them and it makes them so happy. I bring so much joy to my whole family.

With bangs, or not

I saw this post on Pam Parson's blog, and I thought it was brillant. It is a constant debate between Jon and I whether or not to keep Livie's bangs. I am going to put a poll on the blog, so please let us know what you think.

Weekend with Grandma & Grandpa

Dylan was telling me that if you touched the fish, they would bite your fingers off!
Livie thought this pink four wheeler was perfect!

Dylan loved looking at all of the tires on the trailers! He didn't care about the boats much though.

Jon's mom and dad, Heidi and Wayne, came to stay with us this weekend. The kids had so much fun. They love to see family. We went to the Bass Pro Shop because Heidi had never been there before. Livie loved all of the "stuffed" animals and the fish. Dylan liked the more abstract things. He picked the candy cart out and made sure he knew where it was at all times. Also, he liked the little furniture section with the lamps. He loved the lights on the trees and the lights that are in the water ponds. I love seeing things from his perspective. The kids tried out some fourwheelers. Hopefully, one day we will be able to get some!

Dylan had a Valentines party at school today. I was really excited because he wasn't able to go to his Christmas party. He was banned because earlier that day he had bit another peer. I had been reminding him all day that he needed to be good so he could attend. He managed to make it to the end of the day and loved his party. There were so many sugar cookies with frosting. Cookies are Dylan's idea of paradise. Towards the end of the party he had had enough, and hid behind the class calender. Livie loved the party. Anything to do with food, she is game. She thinks Dylan's class is there for her enjoyment.

We have arrived

We have joined the world of bloggers. I have been told by a few people that this is one of the best ways to keep in touch with others. Hopefully, my limited computer skills won't show too much and this blog will look all right. Just an update for those that I haven't talked to in awhile. We still live in Las Vegas. Dylan is currently in the autistic program at school and goes 5 days a week all day. So it is just Livie and I at home. We miss him during the day. Jon is still working for Pulte Homes and most of the time he loves his job.
