Dylan and Livie

Dylan:

When I went into his room this morning, he was playing with his black Herbie bug, hummer, and his ceramic temple and Jesus. When I walked in, the conversation went something like this.

Dyl: Oh no mommy, Jesus needs to get to the temple and the Herbie won't give him a ride.

Me: Well that's not good, what do you think He should do?

Dyl: Wait Herbie wait! Oh well, I guess Jesus will just have to take his Hummer.

Me: I think that is a great idea buddy.

Later When he was getting dressed he came over and gave me a big hug and said, you are my best friend mommy. Oh my word, I almost started to cry.

Livie:
As a mom, You tend to think that you will be the one that always comforts your children when they are distressed. I never thought my two year old would be able to comfort me. She proved me wrong. I have had to have some medical tests the last few days and she has been amazing. I had to get an ultrasound on my uterus, (don't get excited, I am FAR from being pregnant,) and she sat on the bed by my head and stroked my hair, patted my head, and kept leaning down to give me kisses on the forehead. I don't know why I am so lucky to be that sweet little girl's mommy.

My Working Man and Princess

Livie is really into playing dress-up right now. Whenever she is home, she almost always has on some sort of accessory. Yesterday both Liv and Dylan were dressed up. Dylan told me he was a "workin' man" and needed to go to work, so they started playing with blocks. Dylan made a building out of his, while Livie made a castle. Dyl really got into the whole pretend thing and kept asking the princess if she needed stuff.

I know Dylan doesn't have any pants on, but he takes after his dad and pulls them off the second he gets home.

Cousins

Our kids have finally discovered the joys of cousins. When we are able to go up to Utah they just love to play with them. Jon was a hit at one of our parties, because he gave horsey rides to all the kids, sometimes, all of them at once. I'm glad that my kids can make these bonds with their cousins and also keep them until we get to play with them again.

Willow Park

For those of you that live in Northern Utah, you have probably been to Willow Park. It is a cute little zoo with a lot of birds, and a few other animals. Jon, my sister and I took my kids and her Maverick. Our kids loved feeding the ducks. There was this huge peacock. He had his tail spread and it was amazing. We tried to get a picture with the kids in front of him, but Livie was a little scared. She keep talking about gaby booses and peapops. (Baby goose and peacock).

Hill Air Force Base

Jon and I decided to take the kids back up to Utah Memorial day. It was a shorter trip, but a lot of fun. We went to Hill Air Force Base. I have never been there before and it was amazing. There is so much to learn. I would like to go back without the kids and read about all of the planes and the stories behind everything. The kids loved it too. Dylan thought the helicopters were amazing, and he found a wheel that was bigger than he was. (I'm sure he is still dreaming about it.)

Dyl strikes again

Today was another funny Sunday. Dylan had on his A game, and had us laughing all through church. Here are some of his classics:
  • When the men in our ward were singing a song during sacrament, Dyl said, "Look at those kids, they need their moms. I should go up there."

  • When Jon came down from singing, both of the kids were so proud and Dyl said "Daddy you singer good!"

  • "Mommy, you have big eyes, sparkle teeth, and shiny new toes."

  • "I need to lay down on my body."

  • When Dyl was turned around to a brother and his parents in our ward, I asked him to please face forward. He said "No mom, I'm talking to my family." I told him that we were his family, and he replied "No they are my family, see, those kids are my sons."

  • When I took him to the bathroom before Sunbeams, he looked at the stall next to ours where another kid was peeing, he said "What the heck is that kid doing in there?"

  • In Sunbeams, their lesson was on being thankful for their hands. When I picked him up, his teachers had him show me some of the sign language they learned. When they made the sign for mommy, he got that one, but when they made the sign for daddy (which is putting your thumb on your forehead, with the other fingers spread), they asked what that was, and he replied "That's my head."

He also has gotten into watching golf on television. I personally think gold of TV is boring, but watching it with Dyl makes it so exciting. He gives the TV high fives, and keeps encouraging the players when their ball doesn't make it in the hole. Livie is absent from this post, because she has been a crabby girl today, and hasn't said anything worth repeating. I love you Livie.

Peer Pressure

Thanks to the pressure from my family and my dear husband, I have decided to make my blog private. I am going to leave it open for a week, so anyone who would like to be on the list, please leave me a comment with your email address. I have the settings private so that your email addresses won't be posted. Once I see them, I will delete the comment.

Doggy Day Care

We are babysitting our friends Jake and Mandy's two dogs while they are in Mexico getting married. The dogs are still at their house, but we go over a couple of times a day to play with them and feed them. Livie is in heaven. She successfully coaxed one of the dogs out of the doggy door when she was timid of us. She is the animal whisperer. She is such a good helper, and fills up the dogs bowls and their water.
Isn't he such a cutie!

On another topic, things I have loved about today:

  • When I told Livie that she was driving me bananas, Dylan laughed and told her that she was driving him apples.

  • Livie doesn't show an iota of fear with an enormous German Shepard, but she thinks any baby that can walk is a deadly missile, bent on her destruction. I don't really love this, but it is so funny.

  • Dylan got a behavior buck at school, and didn't throw chairs at anyone. Yea Dyl!

  • I got so much accomplished today, and still had time to read my scriptures and take Livie to the park.

  • Livie peed in the potty again. I think as long as I don't push her, she will do it on her own time.

  • It is 7:30 and my kids are asleep in bed. Can it get any better.

I hope everyone else had a great day too!

Home Again

It is always bittersweet to come home. It is nice to be back in our routine, but I miss my family. Dyl and Livie were so glad to be back. Dylan called his "Lan" from the car on his pretend cell phone and told him we were almost there. He was so excited to see him. They had a sleepover last night. I think the kids played in their rooms for hours. Dylan made a pretty cool line of cars. He was so proud of it. Livie also peed in the potty for the first time. We made a huge deal about it, hoping she would want to do it again, but so far, no dice. I guess she is going to take her own sweet time. (By the way, I know the flowered pillow case is horrible, but it is his favorite, and refuses to sleep with anything else.)

Red Jeep

This is one of Dylan's favorite things in the world. He torments my dad while he is there to have a ride in his jeep. But even in the dead of winter, my dad always gives in to him. I guess that is what grandparents are for!

Tremonton

We had such a good time in Utah. It was both happy and sad since we went there for my Grandpa's funeral. The funeral was beautiful, and my grandma seems to be doing fairly well. All the cousins had so much fun together. Dylan did so well with both sets of cousins. He remained calm most of the time, and hardly had any meltdowns. Livie was fantastic too. She actually came out of her shell and played with everyone and talked to the grown-ups. We had a great Mother's day. On Saturday, I had the worst migraine. I couldn't eat with out throwing up and was basically a lump on the couch. Jon was so amazing. He took such good care of me. He had the kids plant some flowers in these cute buckets. When they came in with them, Livie told me it was to "help make me better". I also got my hair cut and highlighted for my present. On Sunday we drove to Jon's parents house and had a big party at his sisters. I love mother's day. Whenever we go home, I remember how much I miss it. I wish Dylan and Livie could play with their cousins more. Hopefully next time we see them, we won't have any sadness mixed in.

Basketball

Jon and the kids played some basketball this past weekend in Tremonton. It was Livie's first time on a real hoop. She would bend down with Jon behind her and he would help her throw the ball into the hoop. She thought she was doing it by herself and was so ecstatic. Watch out WNBA, here comes Livie.

Cousin Emma

Our family went to Tremonton this past weekend for my Grandpa Del's funeral. On the way we stopped at Jon's parents house to spend the night. Jon's brother and his family are currently living with them, and my kids were so happy. They have two kids Emma and Gavin. Emma is 4 and Gavin is 18 months. (In case you were wondering, Livie is kind of scared of Gavin.) Dylan, Emma and Livie had so much fun together. She is such a great little girl. She is so sweet tempered and quiet which is exactly what Dyl needs.

Not so funny Sunday

Our past few Sunday's have been great. This Sunday wasn't the best. To start, Dylan had a bad crash with his dump truck and got a huge goose bump. Luckily, he didn't need stitches, and he didn't have a concussion. Also, my Grandpa Del has been very sick and has been on life support since Thursday. Today, they took him off. Everyone is just kind of waiting now, and that is pretty hard. I wish I could be there to help my grandma, but we are going up to the funeral this week. Since it has been such a blue Sunday for me, I have been trying to look for the more positive things. When Dylan was reading the hymn book in Sacrament meeting, he spelled
H-Y-M-N-S, that says songs. Too cute. Livie decided that I could not sing today. Every time I picked up the hymn book she started shrieking, No singing Mommy, No singing! She loves nursery though. She has a list of what she thinks is important in nursery.

  • Reagen

  • Josh

  • Bubbles

  • Goldfish

  • Crackers

  • Cookies

  • Jesus

Hopefully this list is not in the right order. I am also going to post a cartoon that I think perfectly suits me. (In case you have bad eyes, the cartoon reads: Sister Weaver devises a plan to avoid getting called as Relief Society President. Her shirt says: Can't Quilt, Won't Cook, Drinks Pepsi. Ohhh, so true!)

My Melanie

My best friend Melanie came to stay with me for a few days. We have been friends for over seven years, but we haven't seen each other in four. It was way too long. I was so excited for her to be here. We are so much alike. Even though it had been so long since we had seen each other, it was like we had never been apart. We had so much fun. My kids absolutely loved her. This was a conversation between Dyl and I.

Me: Do you like Melanie?

Dyl: Yeah, sure.

Me: She's pretty nice huh.

Dyl: Yeah, she's pretty cute.

It was so darling. He called her his Melody. Livie always had to be close to her. She is having twins in December, so it will probably be a while until she is able to come out here again. But I already asked Jon if I could go to Sacramento for my birthday present next year. I miss you already Mel!
